All desert islands, including Aruba, Anguilla, the Cayman Islands, and Cozumel, have to decide how best to develop their infrastructures to attract just the right market, while preserving a quality of life for their people. Tourism is the economic engine here, and Aruba leads all other similar islands in sophistication and popularity.

Aruba combines spectacular beaches and sizzling nightlife, with casinos, restaurants; nightclubs; and bars. All kinds of water sports are offered, and while sightseeing is limited, a recently opened golf course and interesting shopping, all serve to keep visitors entertained. Cruise ships call on several days of the week.

Aruba is modern, well developed, and highly commercial, not difficult to understand, given its Dutch heritage.

Aruba has excellent representation from U.S. hotel chains, including Hyatt, Marriott, Renaissance, and Radisson, and top rated beachfront condominiums, as well.

Not To Be Missed – Blue Parrot Park is a terrific water park on DePalm Island.
